Circuit COMMS

An aircraft at approximately 4nm from landing uses the word "Final" (note: not "Finals") and the words "Long Final" when between 4nm and 8 nm. If an aircraft is at less of a range than this it may use "short final" but there is no academic consensus on when this begins. Implicit in the word is a request for clearance to land: you do not have to state this separately.
