If you have studied RNav, then you will be familiar with VHFVHF —Very High Frequency being a space wave that travels in a roughly straight line from transmitter to receiver. In addition, it is amplitude modulated - this is simpler, and while more susceptible to static, VHFVHF —Very High Frequency is technically free of static so this is not a problem
