TS Stage Conditions MET

You are required to know the three stages of a thunderstorm and identify various things that occur during each of them, as follows:

Initial:

Updrafts only. No precipitation

Mature:

Updrafts and downdrafts Defined by the onset of precipitation Possible lightning Possible development of tornadoes

Dissipating:

Mainly downdrafts Possible spread into STST —Stratus/ASAS —Altostratus layers
