AWR Purpose RNAV
Airborne weather radar operates at 9.375 GHz in order to be able to detect water droplets of the size associated with particular types of hazardous cloud. It will readily detect things such as rain and hail, while being far enough removed from the size of precipitation such as drizzle which is indicative of less dangerous cloud.
