VDF Equipment RNAV

The only equipment you require in the aircraft for VDFVDF —VHFVHFVHF —Very High Frequency —Very High Frequency direction finding is a VHFVHFVHF —Very High Frequency —Very High Frequency radio, which is a major advantage compared to more complicated systems. You use this to transmit a pulse (which ATCATC —Air Traffic Control use to determine your bearing) and then listen to ATCATC —Air Traffic Control when they tell you that bearing. Simply think of the radio as mouth and ears - you make a noise, then someone else tells you which direction you are in relation to them.
