SSR Mode A Codes RNAV
Mode A means the aircraft transmits a four digit code back to the SSRSSR —Secondary Surveillance Radar. For each of those digits, there are 8 possibilities: the numbers 0-7, but not 8 or 9. There are therefore 8^4 = 4096 possibilities.
