VOR Accuracy RNAV

The accuracy required for a VORVOR —VHF Omnidirectional Range can be broken down into:

  • That required by the ground equipment
  • Those caused by the aircraft equipment, and
  • Those that are unknown.

Respectively, these have values of 1°, 3° and 1°, for a total possible maximum of 5°.

The examiner will certainly put the answers for the “other” errors as incorrect answers if you are asked this question, so ensure you know which value goes with which error.

Note that the ground equipment error is monitored by the station itself, and there are questions about what happens if the accuracy falls outside of the required limits.
